Hard Disks.
these are used for mass storage and they are fixed inside computers. They hold data and programs. The common hard disks we have are IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) and SCSI (Small Computer System Interface). SCSI Disk is rarely used in Pc Mother Board.
Optical Storage Media
Optical storage devices are used to record and retrieve video, audio, and graphics. Optical disks can be seen in the following categories.
CD is the first standard for CD-ROM designed for audio play back (audio CD)
VCD meaning Video CD, it is a CD for storing video information by using MPEG compression standard. This can now store 74 minutes of full motion video like the space the uncompressed audio CD uses.
CD-R means compact disk record-able. This is the type of disk we referred to as WORM (Write Once Read Many). This disk can allow individual to write to CD once through the CD writer or CD burner.
So plan your work very well before you write to CD-R. Note that incomplete writing makes the CD-R void.
CD-RW. Another type of CD is CD-RW, which is CD - Rewritable, here you can write many times on the disk. It is not like CD-R where you can only write once. It is rewritable (reusable)
