Many authors used the classified scheme to explain the various forms of computers. In this course, we are going to discuss the classification of computer based on the following order:-
- Types
- Genealogy
- Purpose
- Size and processing power.
Classification of Computer based on Types:
in this scheme, computers are classified as
- Analogy Computer
- Digital Computer
- Hybrid Computer
Analog Computers
Analog Computers operate on range basis rather than on a digit to digit. Take a simple instance of Analogy device like Thermometer, the value or number measured by this device is amount of temperature is read from the point where the fluid begin to flow to the point where it stops.. Analog computers used electronic circuits whose voltage and currents ebb and flow
Digital Computers operate from one discrete individual number to another and report its value only in terms of those numbers. Most electronic computers are digital, that is they process data in the form of individual numbers or characters.
Hybrid Computer
Computer that have mechanism that can convert Analog to digital and digital to analogy values or characters
